ENGR 340 - Mechanics of Engineering Materials with Lab(3 credits)
This course introduces main principles of material science in engineering. Then the course continues on with the materials covered in ENGR 260 on deformable body mechanics. Topics include bending, torsion, direct stress and transverse shear in beams; curved members; thin-walled members; combined stresses; theories of failure; deflection of beams; statically indeterminate problems; elastic stability of columns.
Prerequisite: ENGR260
