ENGR 260 - Mechanics of Solids with Lab(4 credits) This course introduces students to the basic principles of engineering mechanics, including statistics and deformable body mechanics. Statics of particles and rigid bodies, equivalent force-couple systems and equilibrium in 2D and 3D, frames and machines; centroids; stress, strain, tension, compression, torsion, bending, shear, design and deflection of beams, and stability of columns are among the typical topics. There are also some hands-on experiments included.
Prerequisite: MAT211
